Funding
The 2006 Australia-Japan Year of Exchange is not a funding program. No additional federal government funding has been allocated to the year, although funds from a range of existing Commonwealth, State or Territory programs may be available for some events. Event organisers are encouraged to seek funds independently.
Both Australian companies with business interests in Japan and the Australian subsidiaries of Japanese companies are invited to contact us about ways they can become involved in the year, including through corporate sponsorship opportunities.
Community Exchange Grants Program
The Australia Japan Foundation has established a Year of Exchange Community Exchange Grants Program. It is open to non-profit organisations in Australia, including educational organisations, volunteer groups and local government bodies. The Foundation launched the program in December 2005 and the aim is to promote bilateral exchange in the areas of art and culture, sport, science, education, environment, health and welfare. Applications must be received by no later than 31 March 2006. Funding of $20,000 will be available from July.
